The Horror Continues
Hitler's Rampage can not be Stopped
Day 9 of the invasion of Poland on September 1st and still many Jews are being rounded up and shipped off to many different concentration camps and prison grounds. As of today, the death toll of the Jewish inhabitants has reached an estimated 9,536.The estimated amount of Jewish soldiers captured is around 43,000.
Adolf Hitler, the chief commander of the German army, and the German army have already defeated the Polish Air
Force on the first day of the invasion. The Panzer divisions cut through the Polish forces at will and isolated them for later disarming.German battleship "Schleswig-Holstein" opened fire on a Polish naval depot and garrison at Westsplatte. An hour later, first German units crossed the border.
The outcome of the war so far has the Polish government planning to flee to Romania and France where they can organize their government.
The Polish army is not yet fully mobilized and unprepared for war. Poles responded to German attacks 1600 kilometres long front, attempting to contain the invading force in order to counterattack and protect industrial centers.

Reflection: The newspaper I wrote relates to the text because this news article was published on the 9th of September/1939 and the story takes place a few days later in 1939. Also, the news article is written from a German perspective as was the story"The Boy in the Striped Pajamas". Although I believe I should've wrote my newspaper from a Polish perspective, I found it easier to write it from German perspective considering all the background information I know.
I wrote this news article because I wanted a better understanding of the situation. I based my news article on factual information that was included in the text too. The map is just a visual that i believe summarizes the news article.

Reflection: I chose this newspaper as an archive because, not only does it give you a great reflection about the invasion of Poland, but there is a detailed map about the invasion too. The map connects with the text because it expresses the main idea of the text in a very clear and organized visual manner. The Germans territory was represented along with it's goal of being in command.
The newspaper itself includes many factual information about the invasion that was included in the story too. The invasion was described in great detail in the news article and the events afterwards. The story includes the events that happened afterwards such as Hitler's requirements of many soldiers, including Bruno's father, to help hold the Jewish population as prisoners.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas: Pictures
Reflection: The reason I decided to choose this armband as a visual representation of the text is because this was the exact Jewish armband wore by the Jews that was described in the story "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas". As you know the Jewish prisoners in Germany were wearing, as described by Bruno, "Striped pajamas". But along with the striped pajamas was this armband representing a Jew. When Bruno had crossed the fence, he had to wear this armband and the striped pajamas so he could blend in. This armband is a symbol of hatred because it was one way of isolating Jews and informing them that they are not welcome on this earth.
This visual helped me understand the many ways that helped discriminate against Jews.

What type of information does a visual provide that the written text does not?
A visual provides an open view that consists more of opinion then straight fact. I believe this because when viewing visual text it allows you to have your own opinion and also see the author's point-of-view on this topic. A written text is the opposite, sure it consists of opinion and fact, but the written text's opinion isn't always backed up.
