The Boy in the Striped Pajamas: Maps
http://history.howstuffworks.com/world-war-ii/start-world-war-2.htm/printable
Reflection: I chose this map to represent the book "The Boy In The Striped Pajamas" because i believe that this
is a great way to visually represent the German invasion towards the region of Poland (the Holocaust). This map
helps distinguish the different routes used in order to successfully complete this invasion. It also shows the divided
regions back then in 1939 during the famous World War II. The divisions of the German army and the defense of
the Polish army are also vividly visualized in this map.
In the book"The Boy in the Striped Pajamas", Germans have already invaded Poland and have held the Jews of
Poland captive. The Germans had held the Jews captive in Germany, starving them, beating them, and
chemically infusion them, while Germans lived comfortably on the other side of the fence. These two different
worlds are simply divided by a fence, a normal fence you see everyday, but one that hides a terrible truth and a
hideous fate.
"This book is not just a lie and not just a fairytale, but a profanation." Rabbi Benjamin Blech.

Sorry haven't finished my reflection.
ReplyDeleteSamar,
ReplyDeleteYou have included some visual images which graphically illustrate the brutality and horror faced by these Polish Jews and linked these to events in the novel. The maps and newspaper articles also help us to understand the reality of the story in Boy in the Striped Pajamas. The reflections with the first two pictures should have been more detailed.
